There is something that music does to my soul.   Something that cannot be described in words as you just need to get the feel of it to experience it.

So this past Sunday one of my favourite jazz people was in town for the Safaricom Jazz Festival and to top it up, he did not come alone.   Once Kirk Whalum, Norman Brown and Rick Braun get together, I bet you, you will not be disappointed.    I may be a bit biased that I got to capture their performance yet there were amazing and other awesome acts on that stage, but this was because by the time they were getting on stage, some people had called it a day thus creating space for me to move closer.  Otherwise, for the better part of the afternoon I was quite some distance from the stage and well, patience always pays so late into the show, I got so close to the stage.

The energy, the sound, the emotions on that stage were incredible.  These three guys and their amazing band gave it their all and you could feel the power in their performance.   So I got to freeze some of the moments on that stage and videos would have done more justice, but one needed to be there to really feel it.

And to celebrate 5 years of awesome jazz with Safaricom we were treated to lovely displays of fireworks that marked the end of the day.    To many many more years of celebrating music that moves.

Jazz is music that is open to borrow from any other form of music, and has the strength to influence any other form of music …….      Herbie Hancock
